I’ve come to realize that I’m a person who likes reading too much into things.
I was the kid at school who spent all day wondering if that look you gave me was from an aborted sneeze or because I did something to upset you.
Social media has driven this…um…quirk into overdrive.
On November 22 2022 the Disney Lorcana twitter account lurched back to life like Lazarus rising from the dead.
And after slumbering for 73 days what did they have to say?
Well not much as it turns out.

Still this sent myself and the rest of Lorcana twitter/discord into a frenzy.
I mean there clearly wasn’t anything new that was revealed from this post. And many people complained as such.
However the content of the message itself wasn’t what was newsworthy, rather it was the post itself that was newsworthy.
These big corporations have marketing plans and calendars that they map out months in advance.
And somewhere, on some Ravensburger employees marketing calendar, the date 11/22/22 was circled as the day when the pre marketing campaign would begin.
At least that’s the story I tell myself.
It’s also very likely that this is a case of that metaphorical kid holding back a sneeze and me misinterpreting the meaning of that look on their face.
It’s possible that, said employee was greenlit to spread a little Thanksgiving cheer to those of us who have been so (im)patiently waiting news of Lorcana, in deviance from the established marketing calendar.
Only time will tell. But I’m optimistic that this is the beginning of the slow drip of content that was promised.
Do I expect a deluge of new information in the near future?
No, to be honest I don’t expect anything substantial till next year. But I do expect this to be the beginning of community building.
And as much as I’d like to be conductor of this train, I’m just happy sitting way back in the caboose, grateful to be along for the ride.
