With apologies to our Destiny friends in other parts of the world, now that U.S. Regional season is over, we decided to look at the data compiled by I Rebel for the past two Regional seasons. We owe a debt of gratitude to all the Destiny players who took the time to report Regional results to I Rebel and JediGeekGirl since it allowed us to have a lot of data to work with for this article.
Both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 Regional seasons each featured 2 separate metas, giving us a total of 4 to summarize. In 2017-18, several Regionals took place using just the Awakenings Block along with the 2P Starter. We have labeled that the Empire at War meta. Mid-season, both Legacies and Rivals were introduced to the Regional meta. While some 2017-18 Regionals took place with Legacies but not Rivals, because there were only a handful of events in that category and Rivals only introduced a limited number of new cards to the game, JediGeekGirl and I agreed to treat Legacies/ Legacies+Rivals as one meta.
While the entire 2018-19 Regional Season took place using the largest card pool which will ever be available for Standard, the season was broken up into two distinct metas. There was one meta before the Rules update was released in December 2018 and another meta which arose post update. Snoke being balanced to 12/14 points, among other changes, clearly shook up the meta and ended the domination of eThrawn/eSnoke.
Overall Comparison of Teams with Most Wins in Each Meta.
The following chart lists the teams with the most wins in each meta along with the percentage of Regionals the team won during that meta. Not surprisingly, when comparing reported results we see eThrawn/eSnoke was the most dominant deck relative to its own meta as it won an amazing 72.73% of the Regionals reported during that time. By comparison, the Legacies/Legacies + Rivals meta appeared to have the most balance since no team won more than 15% of the Regionals reported.

We decided to also summarize results of the Finalists of the Regional events. At this point, we must acknowledge that while the community has been great in providing results, the data was actually incomplete for the 2017-18 Regional season in terms of Finalists reported results. Even though Regional winners were reported for 82 events during 2017-18 season, only 77 events (20 during the EaW meta and 57 during the Legacies/Legacies+Rivals meta) reported complete Finalist data. Only events that reported both Finalists were included in the summaries below. Fortunately, for the 2018-19 Regional Season all results reported included the Finalists so that data is as complete as possible. The following chart lists the teams with the most Finals appearances in each meta along with the associated percentages.

As with the Finalists data, the Top 4 data was actually incomplete for the 2017-18 Regional season in terms of Top 4 reported results.
